Who would have guessed that the promises made to Covenant Israel would be so exhaustive that focussing my attention on them would make me fall way behind in Come Follow Me? I've got to catch up, so I'm going to give the next few chapters brief treatment.
3 Nephi 25:
The Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in his wings unto those who fear (honor) His name.
They will grow up as calves in the stall -- protected and secure
Elijah comes before the Second Coming (fulfilled at Kirtland temple)
He will turn hearts of fathers and children to each other, which protects the earth
3 Nephi 26:
Latter-day Israel will have records specifically prepared for their generation
The Lord will come in glory and eventually, the elements will melt and the earth pass away
We will all stand before God to be judged of our works
Mercy, justice and holiness in Christ will govern the judgement and our assignment to the resurrection of everlasting life or of damnation.
Mormon's summary of Jesus's teachings to the Lehites will be brought back to them by the Gentiles.
If they believe what's recorded in the Book of Mormon, greater things shall be manifest to them
3 Nephi 27
We will be called be the name of Christ at the last day.
Each who takes upon themselves His name and endures to the end shall be saved at the last day.
As we call the church in the name of Jesus, and call on the Father in His name for the church, He will hear us.
If the church is built upon the gospel of Jesus, the Father will show forth his own works in it.
Jesus will draw all men until him.
The Father will lift us up to stand before Jesus and be judged of our works
Those who repent and are baptized in Jesus's name shall be filled.
If they endure to the end, Jesus will hold them guiltless at the judgement.
The Father fulfills all his words
Those who have washed their garments in the blood of Christ, by faith, repentance and faithfulness to the end, enter into his rest.
Those who repent and are baptized in Jesus' name can be sanctified by the Holy Ghost and stand spotless before him and lifted up at the last day.
Out of the books that are written we shall be judged.
He that asks will receive and to him that knocks, it shall be opened.
3 Nephi 28
The 3 Nephites shall minister among scattered Israel and all peoples and bring many souls unto Jesus.
Great and marvellous things will be wrought by them.
3 Nephi 29
When the Book of Mormon comes to the Gentiles, the Father's covenant to restore Israel to her lands of inheritance is already beginning to be fulfilled.
All the Lord's promises will be fulfilled and the Lord will not delay his coming to Israel.
Repeat: the Lord will remember his covenant with Israel
If we spurn the doings of the Lord, the sword of his justice will overtake us.
Repeat: the Lord remembers his covenant with Israel and will fulfill all his promises.
He will execute judgment directed at fulfilling that covenant.
3 Nephi 30
Repentant gentiles will be numbered with his people, the house of Israel.
4 Nephi
This isn't specifically stated as a promise, but to me, the description of Nephite society reads as a promise of things to come for covenant Israel:
no contentions and disputations
everyone deals justly with each other
all things held in common, creating freedom and richer spiritual life
great and marvelous works wrought by the priesthood: healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to see and the deaf to hear in the name of Jesus.
people wax strong, multiply exceedingly and become very attractive
the love of God dwells in the hearts of the people and they enjoy maximum happiness
2. The record of the Nephites would come again to the house of Jacob, as promised by the Lord.
I am struck with the multiple repetitions of the assurance that the Lord will keep His promises with Israel, and with the importance of the Book of Mormon in the plan to do so.
